A look at the making of a picture book. Duration: 40 minutes / Age: Y1, Y2

In this session the children learn about the creative process of making of a book. I talk about the different production stages: from idea to manuscript, story-board, roughs, lay-outs, artwork, proofs and finally publication. I also talk about the role of the editor and the designer, about co-editions in different languages, and I show lots of materials from the book. At the end of the session, I do a speed-drawing demonstration!

The picture book used for this session is the 64 Zoo Lane book 'Georgina the Giraffe' or (from October 2004) 'The Lost Acorns'.
