I'm back from the SOA's CWIG conference in Cambridge (to the uninitiated: this stands for The Society of Author's Children's Writers and Illustrators Group). I'm on the CWIG committee, so my role was to be generally helpful and welcoming. I also gave a talk on story-boarding for picture books. Other speakers included Anthony Browne, David Almond, Polly Dunbar, Philip Pullman and the Children's Laureate Michael Rosen. It was great to meet so many other children's writers and illustrators. Overall a great event: very stimulating and informative (if slighly exhausting).
