A fun introduction to the principles of animation, aimed at children in Year1-6. Duration: 60 mins.

school visits
During this session the children view two of my award-winning short films: 'Little Wolf' and 'When I grow up I want to be a tiger'. I take them through the entire production process of an animated film, illustrating my talk with lots of drawings and props. The children see an animator at work and learn about concepts such as 'metamorphosis' and 'cycle'. Finally, they can try their hand at some simple animation themselves in a short zoëtrope workshop. (In Year 5 and 6 I usually replace the zoëtrope workshop with a question and answer session.)
More about my short films

"All the children thoroughly enjoyed the day and benefited greatly from the practical nature of the activities." Northwood College, Northwood

"We were allowed to keep one second of animation strip (24 pictures) which we will treasure forever!" Longfield First School, Harrow

"The children in Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed the animated films and were inspired to make their own zoëtropes .... I will be in contact to make another date as we would certainly be interested in doing some animation with the pupils in years 4 - 6." North London Collegiate Junior School, Edgeware
